ACTIVIDADES PARA 5ºB PARA EL DÍA 29 DE ABRIL

Read the following text about the scientist Alan Turing (lee este texto sobre el científico Alan Turing).

The first computer

It is 1912. Alan Turing is born in London. As a young child, Alan learns to read in three weeks and he loves numbers. When Alan is six years old, he starts primary school. He is very good at Maths. He also loves doing puzzles and secret codes.
When Alan is thirteen, he starts secondary school. He is very good at Science and Maths. But the teachers aren’t always happy because he doesn’t want to work hard in all subjects.
When Alan leaves school, he studies Maths at Cambridge University. He develops a way of calculating numbers. It is called the ·Turing Machine”.
Later, Alan develops one of the first computers at Manchester University. He also works on “artificial intelligence” and secret codes. His work in computer science is important for electronic gadgets that we use today, like laptops and tablets. What a brilliant achievement for a boy who loves puzzles and secret codes at school.
